Electric car centre opens in Glasgow
A Scottish and Southern Energy (SEE) facility has opened in the heart of Glasgow allowing motorists to charge their electric vehicles for free, test drive an Mitsubuishi M-iEV and generally find out about electric cars.
The centre has been opend alongside a permanent renewable energy exhibition at power firm SSE's Scottish Hydro Centre for Renewable Excellence.
Located at the Scottish Hydro Centre 1, Waterloo Street, Glasgow G2 6AY, 2 mins from Central Station, the centre has two charging spaces available, that are absolutely free of charge. Get in touch through their website to enquire about booking your slot choosing from a Rapid Charge or a Trickle Charge.
Ultimately the aim is for the centre to rent a fleet of electric cars, electric scooters and bikes.
SSE said this is the UK's first dedicated centre offering free electric vehicle charging, as well as hiring and parking. It is also hoped that the centre helps educate the public and debunk some of the myths surrounding electric vehicles. Things such as performance and 'range anxiety'. A key market for the centre will be business travellers coming up from London who can hop off the train, hire an electric vehicle for business in the central belt before returning home on train.
